Board or Council Evaluations

Our costs are based on $65/hr for research or writing activities and $95/hr for in-person meetings, like 1:1 interviews or focus groups. Questionnaire fees are based on the estimated time to develop, administer, analyze and write a summary report on it. The actual hours may vary slightly, depending on the number of people identified for participation or the size of the organization.

In general, an Evaluation for many organizations can be done for as little as $1,500 while a  more comprehensive evaluation, with options like 1:1 interviews and focus groups, can be done for around $3,500, plus travel costs.

The following array of tools are available to support each evaluation, with Items 1 and 9 being required in all evaluations. For the remainder, you determine which ones you want to use:

  1. Pre-assessment meeting to scope evaluation process (1-2 hrs) @ $95/hr (required)

  2. Board or Council meeting observation (cost depends on length of meeting) @ $65/hr

  3. Document analyses (4-6 hrs depending on organization size) @ $65/hr

  4. Questionnaire survey – internal @ $750-$1000 depending on size and complexity

  5. Questionnaire survey – external @ $750-$1000 depending on size and complexity

  6. Individual Interviews (30 minutes each) @ $47.50 per interview

  7. Individual member evaluations – self-reporting questionnaire, ancillary feedback from Chair or colleagues on select questions, and individual interviews @ $110/member

  8. Focus Group preparation (3-5 hrs depending on numbers or complexity) @ $65/hr

  9. Focus Group meeting (2-3 hrs depending on numbers or complexity) @ $95/hr

  10. Prepare Evaluation Report (4-6 hrs) @ $65/hr (required)

  11. Present Evaluation Report (2-3 hrs) @ $95/hr

  12. Debrief meeting on Evaluation Report and Process (1-2 hrs) @ $95/hr

  13. Printing Report and Resource Materials @ $10 per person

  14. Quarterly check-in meetings to determine progress on Evaluation actions @ $95/hr and $65/hr to generate any desired reporting updates

  15. Ongoing mentoring consultation services as needed @ $95/hr

The times used above are estimates and final cost will be determined by the actual time required for the service. Billings will be done bi-weekly for services completed during that period.

Travel costs will be as per provincial rates, from my Edmonton office to your site, and $15/hr for actual travel time. To minimize travel costs, some of the in-person meetings can be done virtually.
